Project 1: "Togepi" Toy Modelling Progression


Firstly, I've created 3 planes and inserted the image file I've taken using the camera. This can be done by using the assign new material option. By having these planes, it will serve as a reference to model my toy. 

For the toy's body, I've created a sphere and removed the top few portion by selecting their faces. Therefore, this gave me a shell-like shape.


After that, I extruded the faces upwards to give me the body of my toy. I made the shell cracks by adjusting the vertices. 


Next, I need to create the flaps for my toy on its head. I did this by selected the faces and then extruding it out.


This is the results of extrusion, Next I need to alter its shape to give it a curve look.


I used the Insert Edge Loop Tool to add more vertices and lines, and i adjusted the vertices to give me the curve look I needed.


This is what I get after adjusting the vertices.


This will be what the flaps will look like when I pressed 3 to smooth it.




I repeated the steps for the other flaps(I need 5 of them) and by following the picture's positioning I've managed to create it. It will look like this.




Next, I need to create its hands. The hands is like a cone shaped hand but I didn't create it using a cone. Instead I've created it hands by using extrusion from a cylinder to have a curved look. I used the same function into creating the legs.




I need to fill in the hollow at the top of my toy, with my sphere. It is half of a sphere therefore, I selected the faces bottom onwards and used the shift + > command to help me select everything faster. I then delete all the selected faces and positioned it in the middle of my toy. 



Finally, I combined all the parts together to give me my final model. And added some textures to it.

Reflection: 
I've encountered quite a few problems while modelling this toy. Problems being how to make the flaps and the body. It looks complicated at first but after some advice and tips from my lecturers and friends, I've managed to do it. The most difficult part will be the five flaps on its head. I have no idea how to make it curved. After asking around then I found out by adding more vertices and adjusting them will give me that look.
