2. MODELING > WEEK 3 > LAB 2 > WASH BOARD

Process:
Firstly, I created a cube with the measurements of  W: 34.3, H: 0.6, and D: 29.2. Changing their subdivisions width to 17 which created all the lines in the middle of the cube. I then beveled the interior edges of the board with width 0.6.

Next, I selected the faces formed by the bevel on the top of the box and extruded it, moving the manipulator up a short distance on the Z axis. I then changed the local translate Z to 0.6 which then gave me the extruded face on the surface of the board. This will therefore give me a basic shape of a wash board.

The rest of the wash board steps is simply created cubes that look like planks and merge them using the Align Tool.

Reflection:
This wash board is relatively easier than the rest so far. I've managed to do it without having much trouble. However there are also some problems I've faced while doing this wash board. My pivot point was messed up and it does not move quite correctly when i drag along its arrows. So in the end, I need to use different views such as front, side, and top to move them to the correct angle.

This wash board modelling also taught me much more about the align tool in maya. With this I have a better understand of how to properly use it in my future works.

References:
At first, I have some problem using the align tool as it gave me some weird alignment with the objects. After that I found out the difference in aligns is dependent on which objects you click first.
